Do I need drywall repair before painting?
If walls have holes, cracks, nail pops or a water stain, yes, and small repairs are included in our interior painting price. Larger work, like a sagging ceiling, failing plaster or a section cut out after a leak, is quoted as drywall so it is finished properly before paint.
Can the same crew do drywall and painting?
Yes. One supervisor schedules the drywall crew first and the painters after the compound is dry and primed, so there is no gap between trades and nobody blames the other for a visible seam.
Should I paint the inside or the outside first?
If the exterior is peeling to bare wood or letting water in, do it first, in the next dry season. Otherwise do whichever you feel most. Interior painting can be done any time of year, which makes it the easier project to fit around the weather.
Which service takes the least time?
A drywall repair takes one to three days and one or two rooms of interior paint about the same. A main floor of interior painting takes two to four days, a full exterior four to seven working days, and a basement of drywall one to three weeks.
What happens if my house has lead paint?
We test before sanding or scraping. If lead is present, the work follows the EPA lead-safe rules: containment, wet methods, no dry sanding and HEPA cleanup. It adds time and cost, shown as its own line on the estimate for drywall, interior or exterior work.
How do I know whether a crack is cosmetic or structural?
Hairline cracks over doors and windows and nail pops are normal settling and are fixed during prep. Cracks wider than about a quarter inch, cracks that keep growing, or doors that start sticking deserve a structural look first, and we will tell you before we patch over anything.
