Quartz countertops are engineered products; granite and quartzite are natural stone. Ask the supplier to identify the exact material and finish. View the selected slab or production sample before approving fabrication.
- Look at the surface in your room lighting.
- Ask where seams and pattern changes will fall.
- Keep the approved material identification in writing.
Ask about care before committing
Use the supplier and manufacturer instructions for the specific surface. Sealing needs vary among natural stones; a universal annual sealing promise is not a substitute for checking the product.
- Ask which cleaners are appropriate.
- Request heat and stain precautions.
- Keep care guidance with the warranty paperwork.
Compare complete fabrication proposals
A material price alone leaves out decisions that change the installed total. Compare measurement, edges, cutouts, support, removal and installation for the same layout.
- Confirm sink and cooktop details before cutting.
- Price the backsplash separately if it is optional.
- Ask how a damaged piece would be handled.
